Song coaching with Brooke Ferri
It all started when…
Brooke saw Gwen Steffani at Red Rocks. She had already been writing songs on the piano for a couple of years but seeing a powerful woman rocking the best concert venue in the world truly inspired her songwriting. Fast forward a few years and … After graduation from Law School, working at Sony Pictures Entertainment in the Music Licensing department, Lionsgate and Lionsgate music Brooke was hired as creative manager at Black Toast Music. After spending the first part of her music career on the business side of the equation she realized that her creative and songwriting abilities had not withered and died but had in fact grown stronger with her knowledge of music business. At Black Toast she began working with musicians and songwriters to help them hone their craft and deliver songs that could easily be placed in film and television. It was then that Brooke realized that she could help other songwriters in their journey towards creating catchy songs and broadcast quality recordings.
Brooke then went on become Director of Artist and Writer’s Relations at Taxi Music where she oversaw the development of many successful music careers. Through her years at Taxi music she has easily listened to, analyzed and critiqued over 100,000 songs, along with helping others learn to successfully analyze and critique songs. Ms. Ferri currently works one-on-one with songwriters at various stages of their careers. Brooke is available for hour or half hour zoom coaching sessions where she helps songwriters fine tune lyrics, melodies and production. She works with songwriters just learning to craft a lyric all the way up to professional writers tailoring songs for well known recording artists or writing to brief for film, television and advertising. Brooke is available to work in all genres including instrumental only tracks for film and TV and believes that her ten years of working closely with songwriters, publishers, music supervisors and being a songwriter and musician herself has made her uniquely qualified to help songwriters navigate both the creative and business sides of the equation. Ms. Ferri can also help guide California based musicians with legal questions through her law practice, Brooke Ferri Law: www.brookeferrilaw.com.

LRYICS BY Brooke Ferri
While Brooke enjoys the entire creative process of songwriting and producing, it is the crafting of the perfect, emotionally charged but easily accessible lyric that really fuels her. Starting with some startling bad poetry in high school, Brooke has studied the craft of the modern song lyric and taken a need for self expression to a whole new level. Brooke can craft a lyric around your melody, craft a lyric around your theme or concept or create a complete topline to finish your instrumental track. Below please find a sample of some of Brooke’s favorite lyrics that she has written over the last couple of years.
Dance With Me ( Style - Dance Pop)
VERSE 1
Lay back, remember the sky
Pin pricks of diamonds
When progress blankets the night
Keep me by your side
VERSE 2
Breathe deep, hold onto that scent
Lightning and dew drops
When a season is devoted to flames
Know I’ll be your rain
PC 1
The earth may quake
But mountains break
And live to rise again
CHORUS:
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
INSTRUMENTAL HOOK
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
VERSE 3:
When clouds march in neat little lines
Like tiny soldiers and
Shadows knock on your door
I’ll be your fight
PC 2
Seas will shake
And hearts will ache
But live to love again
CHORUS:
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
INSTRUMENTAL HOOK
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
If this is the end of everything
Take my hand and dance with me
Coming Home (Style - Passionate Singer Songwriter)
VERSE 1:
I used to try and save the light
But what I've lost is dark forever
While you tried to hold on tight
I thought I'd find that something better.
VERSE 2:
There was a time my eyes were bright
but now I fear I've lost that wonder
I never did reach those heights
But now I see it was just a cover
Chorus
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
VERSE 3:
Full of weight but never cracked
You were my mold and my fever
Summer time left you burnt
But I was frozen in this winter
CHORUS:
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
BRIDGE:
You're my satellite
Let me save my life
Springtime is a lie
But still I want to try
CHORUS:
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
Home, home, home
I'm coming home, home, home
Ho-o-ome, I’m coming home
Ho-oh-oh I’m coming home
Take The Crown (Pop AC)
VERSE 1
Light, I bat my eyes
And mumble sighs
I'm only six feet minus five
I'm on the side camouflage
What can I do, to make me
PRE CHORUS
Come into the light
darkness on the side
failure on the brain
got me in a haze
Inside I'm burning red
Come into the light
darkness on the side
But I never look away
When the sky is turning grey
Cuz thunder rises loud
CHORUS
And I will do, whatever I can
To stand out, do you see my hand
Cuz If I hit a wall, I'll hit it again
Do you hear that sound
It's me breaking ground
I will scream and I will fight
Watch me battle through the night
And I will take the crown
I will hope and I will pray
But I won’t settle for what may
And I will take the crown
The crown
VERSE 2
Time, to burn it down
and to be found you see my spots
they are not round, differences
are what I’ll use, to make me:
PRE CHORUS
Come into the light
darkness on the side
failure on the brain
got me in a haze
Inside I'm burning red
Come into the light
darkness on the side
But I never look away
When the sky is turning grey
Cuz thunder rises loud
CHORUS
And I will do, whatever I can
To stand out, do you see my hand
Cuz If I hit a wall, I'll hit it again
Do you hear that sound
It's me breaking ground
I will scream and I will fight
Watch me battle through the night
And I will take the crown
I will hope and I will pray
But I won’t settle for what may
And I will take the crown
The crown
BRIDGE
Light, I bat my eyes
And mumble sighs
I'm only six feet minus
CHORUS:
And I will do, whatever I can
To stand out, do you see my hand
Cuz If I hit a wall, I'll hit it again
Do you hear that sound
It's me breaking ground
I will scream and I will fight
Watch me battle through the night
And I will take the crown
I will hope and I will pray
But I won’t settle for what may
And I will take the crown
The crownI will take the crown any day, I will take the crown, you’ll see, you’ll see.
Say Jump (Style - Upbeat Pop Rock)
Verse 1:
We are the brightest stars
stealing dark
from the night sky
from the night sky
In a room filled with noise
we are the loudest voice
Verse 2:
Caught up in the storm
we’re the eye
and we stay calm
and we stay calm
When we’re down
out of time we catch the winning prize
Pre Chorus:
We can only live if we dream
And we can only dream if we’re living
We are so much more than it seems
And really this is just the beginning
Chorus:
If they say jump we go so high
And if they say run we say watch my fly
If they say jump we say how high
And if they say run watch me, watch me fly-i-i-i
Fly all the way
Fly-i-i-i fly so high
Take my hand and breakaway
Verse 3:
We are adrenaline
in your veins
And it sets in
and it sets in
The knives won’t stick in
we have the thickest skin
Verse 4:
We are the pounding blood
In your ears
And you hear it
And you feel it
And the sound that you hear
Will drown out your fears
Pre Chorus:
We can only live if we dream
And we can only dream if we’re living
We are so much more than it seems
And really this is just the beginning
Chorus:
If they say jump we go so high
And if they say run we say watch my fly
If they say jump we say how high
And if they say run watch me, watch me fly-i-i-i
Fly all the way
Fly-i-i-i fly so high
Take my hand and breakaway
